Fitted diapers are shaped like diapers and have elastic around the legs and waistband. They are fastened with snaps, Velcro or Aplix, pins or Snappi diaper fasteners. Fitted diapers require a diaper cover, as they do not have a water proof layer built in.
Prefold diapers are a rectangular, multi-layered, absorbent piece of fabric. They can be used on their own – folded and pinned on, the old fashioned way, or folded and place in a diaper cover – or used as doublers or inserts for fitted, pocket and all-in-one diapers.
